  Thanks so much, Theresa. I tried to do videos but my iPhone and it became a comedy because I got a fright when the thunder roared. I did get one with a lightning but very quick.

A bit about me

Anne J.

I'm a Philippine island girl in Africa, a Filipino-South African. A mad banana woman that I am, I live "la vida loca". The banana part isn’t only because I'm Anna (Banana) but because an old boyfriend had observed that although Asian (yellow on the outside) I'm very much Caucasian in my way of thinking (white in the inside) and my actions, too. It's a rather accurate observation. I am that liberal-thinking and modern-acting Filipino... I remain my tragic-comedic self with a day job in slightly more serious field of Finance, Business Operations and Corporate Affairs.

Chronicle of a Lockdown, Day 5, South Africa It's Monday. (Yes, despite the lockdown, I'm no better at the insta part of Instagram.) I have nothing. It's a busy work-day at home. The month-end process of Team Finance starts. I even ended up working until wee hours of the morning. I woke up the next day (today, actual day 6) at 9am, after 4 hours of sleep and tackled work immediately. All I have are memories of 2 years ago and 4 years ago. Ironically, on this day, airport was our spot and travel was the "happening". These were 2 years ago, when Meg returned to Africa from America, and 4 years ago, on our way to Manila. Chronicle of a Lockdown, Day 3, South Africa You know I'm serious about something when I get good at following through and consistency with respect to that something. My fear, my paranoia isn't all bad. In another world, any other time, I will not be convinced to take 20 drops of Echinaforce before my coffee. It doesn't have a pleasant taste, but I take it religiously these days. The meds and vits I take go with my prayers. God protects us. And, provided we stay home and don't have physical interaction with others, even with whoever will deliver our online-ordered food and other household essentials, I know we will be safe. I know, I have added a bit more to my daily intake of meds and vits, not only because of the fact that I am aging, but because of coronavirus. Chronicle of a Lockdown, Day 3, South Africa Yesterday, Sunday, was third day of lockdown. It's family day, extended family day. 😁 It has become more important for the young one to interact with other kids. I am happy and grateful I have a big extended family. I am happy that my child gets along with my cousin's children. We are grateful for the internet that makes it possible for these cousins to play together eventhough they live in different continents, 10,000 miles apart. Chronicle of a Lockdown, Day 3, South Africa Lockdown means no Montecasino restaurants food, which means sustenance must come from our own kitchen. This further means dishes. Every day! I know, I know, I say I love doing dishes, and I do. It's another form of meditation for me but that's only romantic when it's a choice. I wonder if I will start to think differently about dishwashers. Chronicle of a Lockdown: Day 2, South Africa We had a picnic on the floor. We could have gone out to the yard and had our picnic on the grass but the sun was shining bright despite the cooler temperature and the men in the house didn't want to put up the gazebo. We had woken up very late, so we were not too hungry to want a big lunch, even though this was at about 2pm already. Probably even later. I fried more lumpia shanghai. We also had for supper on the first day of lockdown. This time, I also fried some chicken/vegetables spring rolls. I burned the gluten-free fries. Subconsciously, I knew we weren't gonna eat gluten-free. I didn't realize I bought gluten-free. On this second day of lockdown, we finished one choco-banana cake (shaped like a bread) and we have one left. There are also 4 iced cupcakes left. They're also choco-banana. Chronicle of a Lockdown: Day 2, South Africa This was yesterday. I wasn't bored. The young one was bored. A friend of mine sent a message telling us about this Google trick. AR (augmented reality) isn't new to us, being Pokemon Go players, but real animals are better. Chronicle of a Lockdown: Day 2, South Africa I had to think of me second to this little person who was bored, and I built her this... this makeshift of a playhouse in the TV room. We were able to reuse the box of the chest freezer I bought for the lockdown. We couldn't think of a better proof. I actually wanted to build her a tent but the box wouldn't stand. 21-Day Lockdown South Africa - Day 1 Chronicle of a Lockdown The mind is so powerful. With everything that has been going on, despite moments of sanity, calm and peace, paranoia and anxiety still get to me. I was done for the day later than usual. Well, I do have those days. It was already 3am, the first day of lockdown, when I decided I was ready for bed. I forced, or I was forced, to call it a day. I felt a dryness in my throat. My headache, which has been a constant companion since early March, was concerning. As my mind started to entertain thoughts, I felt my heartbeat quickening. Was I struggling to breathe? I recalled the day this week when I wasn't mindful. I forgot what's going on around the world. I had just unpacked groceries. I was touching the plastic grocery bags. I sat down at my desk and I practically wiped my face with my unwashed and bare hands. When I realized what I did, I ran to the bathroom and washed my hands and face, for much longer than 20 seconds. I was worried. I thought, it was too late to wash my face and hands. I said to myself I needed to sleep. That was all. The dry throat was from lack of sleep, some exhaustion, and anxiety. I prepared a drink of hot water with honey. I wasn't going to drink cold water. I also had a teaspoon of pure honey. I took my temperature. Twice. I was fine. Then, I prayed. I prayed so hard. While praying, I thought of sleep... In the morning, I took my usual medication: Exforge for my hypertension and Loratadine for my allergies. I decided Echinaforce IS necessary, and not only as prophylactic, so I took 20 drops 3x today. I took my other supplements and called my doctor. Talking to her, I convinced myself that since my BP is managed and controlled, I'm fine. I would be fine even with Covid-19. She agreed, but said that we cannot discount anything... Still, without fever, I am fine. I felt better. I must just keep working on my immune system. The images from Italy are devastating... I do my best not to dwell on this reality... I must get proper sleep. I must sleep early-ish. I must pray. #lockdown #covid19lockdown #covid19

21-Day Lockdown South Africa - Day 1 Chronicle of a Lockdown It's a normal working day for all the adults in the house, being all in telco/ICT. It was a busy day so I was happy I didn't have to cook. I had ordered food from Glessie. All I had to do for the Lumpia Shanghai was fry them. Other people have nothing to do during lockdown. People are bored and restless. I am fortunate. I have a lot I can do and would like to do. I would like to read the books I bought last year and didn't get a chance to read. I would like to write. I would like to blog. I would like to at least update my personal bank accounts spreadsheet. I need to homeschool a child. I thought we had enough (swipe left), but as I became more fearful, I was adamant we needed more; to last beyond the 21 days... just in case. I focused on food. No stockpile of toilet paper, and I was that hopeless one who never got hand-sanitizers.
